Invitation to the Congress

The 8th International Teacher Education and Accreditation Congress (ITEAC 2026), traditionally held biennially, will take place in Istanbul on October 16–17, 2026, hosted by Marmara University in collaboration with Marmara University Atatürk Faculty of Education and EPDAD.

Teacher education is undergoing a significant transformation process driven by global digital transformation, artificial intelligence applications, and new approaches to quality assurance in higher education. This process makes the continuous improvement of teacher education programs, the strengthening of quality assurance systems, and the expansion of international collaborations more crucial than ever.

Organized with this vision, the primary objective of ITEAC 2026 is to enable the sharing of up-to-date knowledge, experiences, and best practices in quality assurance, accreditation, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence in teacher education at both national and international levels; to strengthen cooperation among stakeholders; and to contribute to scientific discussions that will shape the future of teacher education. The congress aims to bring together academicians, researchers, policymakers, representatives of quality assurance agencies, educational administrators, and practitioners on a shared platform.

EPDAD is an independent accreditation body authorized by the Higher Education Quality Council of Türkiye (YÖKAK), responsible for the accreditation of teacher education programs in Türkiye. Through its activities in accreditation, evaluation, and quality assurance, EPDAD aims to contribute to the continuous enhancement of teacher education programs in our country and to support the training of qualified, well-equipped teachers who embrace modern approaches. EPDAD is also a full member of the Central and Eastern European Network of Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (CEENQA) and represents our country at the board level.

The congress aims to present scientific studies on current trends in quality assurance and accreditation in teacher education, digital transformation, AI applications, internationalization, ethics, data security, and best practice examples.

Key highlights of the congress program include:

• Keynote sessions and oral paper presentations,
• "Best Practices Panel" featuring the Deans of Faculties of Education,
• "Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence Panel", with national and international experts
• "Accreditation Agencies Panel", bringing together representatives from various quality assurance organizations,
• "Panel on Student Evaluators' Experience Sharing", to be held with the participation of Student Evaluators
• The launch of the Accreditation Standards for Graduate Programs.
